Wheezing slightly as the air is forced from your lungs, Salem lifts you out from her giant, cavernous ass and back to her smirking face. You shout nervously as Salem’s giant, pale fingers reach past your head and firmly grab your torso. Suggestion for the new management: change your name immediately, remove the “campground” sign on I5 and put up a “NO CAMPING!” over our giant night sign-in board. Salem chuckles as she reaches around her back, reaching into her dress for you.
Bonus, the car and tent still smell of cat piss. Wish there had been an outhouse, it would have been an improvement. In summary: we paid $30 for no shower, no toilet, a urine soaked tent, being told to leave TWICE and all the tranquility of an outhouse on the side of a highway. The manager who we had spoke with on the phone was there and apologized for FORGETTING to inform the morning security we had permission to be there! She apologized again, gave us $5 back and a pink permission slip of approval (thanks). Then at 8:00 the next morning we were woken up by a different security guard and told to LEAVE again! We got up and went to the office which was now open. After some very polite asking on our end and assuring we would only be there the one night, we were told we could stay. First we were told we had to pack up and could come back in the morning for our money.
The security guard made a phone call, let us speak with the manger and we explained the situation. We were informed that the grounds have recently come under new management and they no longer service camping. While we were gone, the tent had been thoroughly sprayed by the cats. (Note: this place is crawling with feral cats, its important for the next part.) When we got back from WinCo the tent had a really bad urine smell. After setting up we found that the restrooms and showers were all closed and locked! We ended up having to use the restrooms at WinCo down the road.

The camping spot was a “scenic” grassy patch with several trees, located a stones throw from the roaring river of cars that is I5. We paid $35 cash (an outrageous amount, but we just needed a place to stay) and went to set up our tent. There is a large board posted outside the office that says to select a spot, write the spot number on the provided envelope and drop the money into the slot. Her Interactive’s thirty-third game, Midnight in Salem, was initially scheduled for release in 2016, but was continuously postponed without explanation. Anyone who follows Her Interactive’s forums or Twitter page will know how much controversy this game has created.
